Although American Church Group of the Dakotas has been around only since 2015, it was founded by Barney Insurance, a Nebraska insurance agency with more than 60 years of experience.
Barney Insurance began selling insurance in Nebraska in the 1950s. In 2008, the agency decided to focus on insuring Christian churches and related ministries. As a result, the Barney Church Group was formed, serving more than 500 ministries in Nebraska and Northern Kansas. In 2015, after years of working for Barney Church Group, agent John Korsmo saw the opportunity to serve ministries in his home state of North Dakota. He helped form a partnership with American Church Group, LLC, to create what is today known as American Church Group of the Dakotas.
